WEEK3
These picture were taken at the East Rock Trail in New Haven.
Okay… a good series… It's great to go out and take a walk and look carefully at the natural environment. The Whitney area has great hiking trails and is a wonderful place to visit, close to the college. As an educational exercise I took your last one and made a couple of tweaks to it to turn on the lights and balance it up a bit. I think you'll agree that it is closer to your vision of what you saw when you are taking the picture. One of the goals… perhaps the main goal of this class is to retrain our minds to see as the camera sees and to use Photoshop to edit our pictures in order to change what the camera sees and bring it more in line with what our minds eye is seeing… That's where true expression begins… when we take over the process and edit for light.
I took your last picture and spent about two minutes on it doing feathered selections and using levels to bring up the light in the darker areas and to establish a focal point of light reflecting in the water.
Wow Ashlee,
ReplyDeleteYou have some gorgeous pictures that can really be post cards. What a great job you did capturing these beautiful pictures.
Thank you so much :)

Keep shooting!
I love the thrid one. The water is so still. The reflections are so clear!
